FAQ

What day does the DOE diesel price come out?

Tuesday. EIA surveys retail diesel prices as of 8 a.m. local time every Monday and releases the weekly averages the next morning, around 10 a.m. Eastern. The published week is always labeled by its survey Monday, not the release day.

What time is the DOE diesel price released?

Around 10:00 a.m. Eastern on release day. Fuel-surcharge schedules that update off the index typically apply the new number from Wednesday through the following Tuesday, but the effective window is a contract term — check your rate agreement.

Why is this week's DOE price delayed?

Almost always a Monday federal holiday: the survey shifts and EIA releases on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. The week keeps its Monday date label. If it is not a holiday week, check EIA's schedule page for announced changes.

When the number drops, it is live here within the hour — on the index page, in the FSC calculator, and in latest.json.
